Our favorite subject is science. This week in science we talked about rocks. We learned about the rock cycle. Sandstone turns into quartzite. Then quartzite melts into lava. When the lava cools it turns into basalt. Then the weathering and erosion turns it back into sandstone. We also Know that each mineral has a color, luster, streak and hardness.
In math we learned six digit addition. Six digit addition is not like kindergarten 5+5=__. It is like this, 786,345+264,675=__. Fourth grade addition! We also learned six digit subtraction not 5-3=__. It is like this 888,999-495,333=__. Fourth grade subtraction! We did word problems too. Those are hard! On to Reading! This week in reading we worked on character traits. Some good character traits are sassy, laid back and mysterious. We also worked on changing boring words into more interesting words. Reading is very fun! Here comes writing! This week in writing we worked on writing great beginnings. One of the great beginnings that we wrote was: I sped across the clearing in the middle of the forest. I was so happy about camping! Then I heard a big BOOM! We like writing! By: Ella M. and Julia N.
